Practice phone

Your caller doesn't need you to answer. They need to know what happens next.

A practice number for calls, texts and voicemail on the phone you already carry. When you can't pick up — which is most of the working day — the caller gets a message you wrote, within seconds.

The Auto-Reply screen, showing the message set up for each kind of call

The moment

The call comes while you're with someone else.

It arrives on your practice number, not the one your family uses — and you can see which line it came in on before you decide anything.

Your words

The reply is one you already wrote.

Twelve reasons someone might be calling, twelve messages you set up in advance. Nothing is generated, and you can read every one of them before a caller ever does.

Afterwards

A conversation, not a red dot.

The voicemail is transcribed and labelled, their reply is attached to it, and the whole thread is waiting when you come out of session.

Calling back

The problem isn't the number you publish. It's the one you call back from.

From your own phone you either hand over your personal number permanently, or ring someone in distress from No Caller ID — which almost nobody answers. Call from Rivet and they see the number they already called.

Questions therapists ask about this

What happens when someone calls while I'm in session?

Nothing you have to do. They get the message you wrote for the reason they called, within seconds, and the call is waiting as a conversation when you come out. You are not choosing between the person in the room and the person on the phone.

Most of my callers don't leave a voicemail. Does that still work?

That is the case this is most useful for. A hang-up with no message is its own category and always gets a reply — otherwise the caller hears nothing at all, which is the outcome that loses people. A call that ends in silence is the one most likely to become somebody else's client.

Will my clients know it's automatic?

You write the message, so it sounds like you. Most practitioners say plainly that they're with a client and when they'll be free. Being honest about it reads better than pretending, and nobody is offended by a text that tells them what happens next.

Is an AI talking to my clients?

No. The messages are yours, written in advance, and you can read every one of them. The only thing a model does is decide which of your messages fits the call — and it runs locally on Canadian hardware, so nothing about the call leaves the country. It is not a conversation engine and it is not a receptionist.

Can I tell whether it's a new client, an existing one, or a spam call?

Each conversation carries a category, so the inbox is sorted before you open it. You are not listening to four voicemails to find the one that mattered.

Can I use it for personal calls too?

Better not to, and that is rather the point. Your personal number stays personal; the practice number is the one you publish. Keeping them apart is most of what people come here for.
